The unit will open to patients in spring 2010 and will provide state of the art facilities with new X-Ray and treatment rooms. Emergency Care gets underwayEmergency Care gets underway Posted: 18.01.10 January 2010 sees the planned works at South Tyneside General Hospital get underway. The hospital are spending £8 million on upgrading the existing accident and emeregency department, admissions unit and the childrens assessment services to create the new emergency care services.
The major development is planned to last until 2011 and will bring state of the art facilities to the the borough. Elaine on the panelElaine on the panel Posted: 09.09.09 Elaine was awarded first Prize in the Architects for Health's Student Health Design Award for her design of a Childrens Speech and Language Clinic last year and was invited back down to London to be part of the judging panel in this years awards.
The international competion saw entries of students from the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Germany and China being short-listed.

Under the scheme Architect In The House we are offering free consultation to registered homeowners who are looking to improve their homes who then donate to Shelter. The scheme looks at helping those most in need and has raised more than £800,000 in the past 13 years. Interserve Golfing ChampInterserve Golfing Champ Posted: 08.09.09 Derek recently took part in Interserve's golfing day at Romanby, Northallerton and managed to win for the second year running, adding to his collection of Golf bags and umbrellas.
Playing alongside other architects and consultants, Derek manged to keep his record intact keeping Dunwoodie out of a hole. He is looking forward to a possible hatrick next year. Ingham Wing Entrance CompletedIngham Wing Entrance Completed Posted: 25.03.09 The practice has recently completed a refurbishment of the main entrance at South Tyneside District Hospital, including new entrance canopies.
This project sees the start of more major refurbishments at the hospital including Wards 8 and 9 and also a new A&E and entrance being planned for the near future.

The new MRI Unit and X Ray Department at the Royal Infirmary had a combined value of £3,300,000.
